Introduction

Welcome to Mr. Wollaston’s Online Course in Language Arts for the development of the twenty-first century student. This online course is developed for current 8th graders who will be taking the state exams in April of 2011. The course is divided into Modules each lasting a week at a time. Students will be required to complete all assignments in each Module. If you have never taken an online course before, please take the time to read the following.

This online class is primarily for students who are unable to attend school for any of the following reasons; illness or out of school suspension (being out for a minimum period of six weeks). Before starting this course each student and parent will be required to read an Online Learning Support Agreement and submit, by email, a response within two days of being enrolled in the course.

This document called an Online Learning Support Agreement will set the expectation of this class, what you as the student can expect from me as your instructor and your responsibility as the student. An online class is a lot different than sitting in a classroom at your school and requires each student to commit to the program. I am looking forward to a great time exploring the thinking of the 21st century student with you.
